Our Story

Roeloffs Nurseries began in 1940 in the village of Oude Wetering, The Netherlands, when founder Jan-Theunis Roeloffs started growing roses with a focus on quality and care. In 1948, Jan-Theunis moved the nursery to South Africa, where the soil and climate opened new possibilities.

In 1963, the business passed to his son Jan Roeloffs, who continued the tradition of rose cultivation and built a reputation for excellence over decades.

By 1995, Jan was joined by his daughter Leana and son-in-law Johann, who helped grow the nursery into the business it is today. Under their guidance, the farm expanded from its base in Hekpoort to include a second site at Houtkoppies, near Magaliesburg.

In 2023, after more than sixty years in the rose industry, Jan retired. Today, Leana, Johann, and the next generation continue the Roeloffs commitment to roses — honouring the past while building for the future.
